Dell’s Concept UFO, Concept Duet, and Concept Ori give the normally tight-lipped PC manufacturer a rare look at future products. PCWorld got a preview of these ideas in advance of their launch at CES in Las Vegas on Monday.
Because they are models, we don’t know if they’re going to ever make it on the market. So, think of them as hints to what Dell is working on for potential PCs, and who knows — you might see something like that at your local electronics store someday.
Concept Ori: Fold it up!
The Concept Ori is a folding Laptop, which looks much like the ThinkPad X1 Fold announced by Lenovo at CES 2020. It is a single monitor that folds in the centre, offering options to use it as a computer, a tablet or a laptop with clamshell. For full flexibility a small Bluetooth keyboard will probably come with it.
Concept Duo: An all screen laptop
The Concept Duo is a two-display laptop-that’s right, no keyboard tray. You can use that as a clamshell, or as a book. The Bluetooth keyboard can be used separately, or one of the screens can be adhered to to behave more like a regular laptop. You can even create an onscreen trackpad below the keyboard when it’s stuck to the display.
UFO Concept: A PC! It is controller of the game!
The UFO concept could well come from space, as it shows something unlike anything Dell has done before. It is a full-fledged mini-PC with interchangeable parts which can transform it into a controller for games. Yes, it might look like a Nintendo Switch, but note, it’s a complete PC, providing much more versatility than a boring old dedicated game controller.
